Meet the Governors

The Governing Body

Ray Tate

Chair of Governors

I am a new member of the governing body, having joined in November 2016. I have been on the governing body of 4 schools in the past 20 years. I am married to Elaine and have 2 grown up children and 4 amazing – I’m not biased – grandchildren. I am the pastor of the Beacon church in Ashton-in-Makerfield and have worked in schools doing Christian assemblies, RE lessons and Christian clubs since 1987. For me, it is a privilege to be involved in the life of the school to bring a positive Christian input and to ensure that all members of the school, staff and pupils, gain as much as they can from their time in the school.

Stephen Williams

Vice Chair of Governors

Foundation Governor since 2012 Stephen is married to Julie and has a son that attends Cinnamon Brow CE Primary School.  Stephen was born in Liverpool and has lived in Cinnamon Brow since 2009. He runs his own business as a web designer and developer. Stephen uses a wheelchair and you may have seen him wheeling around school. In his spare time, Stephen likes to make bread, bake cakes and eat them.

Stephen Bristow

Chair of Finance, Personnel and Buildings Committee

Foundation Governor since 2004, now appointed by Warrington Educational Trust, Stephen is married to Lynn.  They have a daughter and son, both of whom attended the School.  He lives in the area and is now retired.  He is also on the Church finance committee.  When not playing with his granddaughter he likes to travel, walk, dinghy sail, be a volunteer Legacy ambassador with Christian aid, maintain Nation Trust properties, empty glass bottles for recycling and join committees.

Fiona Ross

Foundation Governor since 2011 appointed by Diocese of Liverpool Fiona is married and has lived in Cinnamon Brow for over 20 years. She  taught in secondary schools, then went into industry and became a  Chartered Engineer moving on to be a university lecturer before retiring. She plays the piano and violin and enjoys reading science books and spy stories.

Emma spends most of her spare time trying to persuade her children to go on long walks in the countryside.

Sarah Tilley

Mrs Tilley enjoys spending time with Mr Tilley and her two very mischievious cats! She loves anything chocolate and her favourite rink is hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows! Mrs Tilley likes to be active and enjoys long walks at the seaside. Her favourite time of year is Autumn as she likes the wind and the warmth of the colours on the leaves but she is always very excited when it snows!

Sue Dawson

Curriculum and Standards Committee

Sue is a Level 4 Teaching Assistant who works in Year 6. As well as spending time with my husband and two children. I enjoy running, walking, camping and watching football.

Melanie Whitling

Foundation Governor since 2015 Melanie is married to Des and has three children. Their son Alexander and daughter Elizabeth attend Cinnamon Brow Primary School and William is due to start in 2018. Melanie works part time as a Veterinary Nurse and in her spare time is learning British Sign Language.

Reverend Tracy McLoughlin

Foundation Governor

My name is Reverend Tracey McLoughlin.  I am originally from Liverpool and came to be the Team Vicar at the Church of the Resurrection, Cinnamon Brow in February 2016.  I have three grown up children, one granddaughter and a very lively dog!  I like to read, go for walks and listen to music.

Gillian Warburton

I became a Parent Governor in Feb 2017 shortly after my daughter started in Reception at the school. Being a former pupil at the school myself (many years ago) and now having my daughter there, made me keen to be involved in the life of the school and shaping its future. I live in Cinnamon Brow with my partner, Paul and our daughter. I currently work three days a week in the Commercial department for a large local organisation. I also enjoy being part of the local community and volunteer at the toddler group at the Church of the Resurrection as often as I can. I love outdoor life with my family and friends and like to get away to the beach as much as possible.
